Annette O'Toole spent her childhood in the Houston studio which was operated by her mother. at the age of two, she first appeared on television when she was a kid on the Don Mahoney Children's Trooper program. When she was 13, and had ten years worth of singing and dancing instruction to her credit, she along with her mom went to L.A. for a year to see if she could pursue a career in show business. The first show she worked on as a professional dancer in only two months on Danny Kaye's show The Danny Kaye Show. "I've made use of my dancing and singing lessons in a variety of ways," she says. "The discipline you get from these classes is a huge benefit for actors." The first time she acted was My Three Sons, followed by appearances in Gunsmoke, The Partridge Family, The Mod Squad, and Hawaii Five-O. O'Toole's greatest love, despite her success in television and film, is theatre. After a six-year run on Smallville she decided to focus on theater as she was doing for the past decade. An audition she took at New York led her to being cast in The Sea Gull. She has performed in many off Broadway productions like Adam Rapp's "Kindness", Tracy Letts Man from Nebraska in addition to Tennessee Williams A Lovely Sunday for Creve Couer.
